Trial and error of image 2

The first trial of image two (figure 1) was a rough trial to see if the silicone moulds came out correctly and to see where the shadows needed to be applied to create the optical illusion. Because the trial was done on the makeup artist it looked unfinished as it was missing the beard aspect intended for the final image. The second trial (figure 2) was completed on the model and so was a better practice for the final image. Unfortunately the silicone pieces for this image hadn’t set so gelatine pieces were applied instead, which created a messy prosthetic as the edges did not blend as well as the silicone would. Another problem in this image trial was that the frame looked unfinished and did not achieve the correct shape around the head to mimic a stone carving. The frame was altered and improved on for the final image, so that it was bigger and moulded around the head to create a more seamless finish.
